So this was a video game that I played about 20 minutes of before getting bored. I figured the film might be able to be a little more interesting and/or creepy.
The Good:
The special effects.
The use of light and shadow as a storytelling element was done well, as was the use of rain and fog.
The opening sequence was a nice attention-grabber to pull you in.
It was an honest attempt at telling a ghost story...but...
The Bad:
The characters were actually slightly more stupid than the average horror movie character. And while on the characters, they were not in the slightest amount fleshed out.
Most of the secondary characters were 2D.
It attempts to make up for being so vague for so long by telling you a story of "what happened" without giving you really any info to have led you there. For a story within a story done properly read Frankenstein.
The end leaves you ... how to put this... wanting more from it, but happy it is over.
Overall: This is for "creepy horror video game movie" what Doom was for "action horror video game movie". It is pretty though.
