Ultraviolet (2006)
I'll be honest, I didn't expect a whole lot from this movie. I did want to see it in the theatres but wasn't pushed to do so enough to drop 8 bucks on it.
The Good:
Stylized. It had a look that was very much its own, sorta like christian-biohazard-ninja-video game.
The music was pretty good, the preview had one of my favorite Jem songs in it.
There was a lot of action in the film... and perhaps more killing than in any other movie I have ever seen (I wanted a tally at the bottom of the screen like in Hot Shots! Part Deux to keep track). Some much violence that it became humorous.
This would make a great video game.
The Bad:
The plot was confusing. Not that my brain couldn't keep up, just that I was continually going, "What? I don't... wait... I thought that...What now?"
Did you realize it was about "vampires"? This was a surprise to me, but it is told to you at the beginning. Not real vampires but "vampires"... anyway...
There wasn't a lot to this movie. It was like a video game or a music video.
I didn't care about any person in the film or the fate of this stylized humanity or anything.
Predictable.
Overall: Did I say video game before... oh yeah I did. I give it a House of the Dead if you can laugh at it :-)
